VisionTV signs on as exclusive media sponsor for Bhangra Nation

VisionTV, Canada's multi-faith and multicultural television network, will join Bhangra Nation 2007 as exclusive media sponsor.

Founded in 1997, this annual Toronto event showcases the art of Bhangra, a folk dance originating in the state of Punjab, India. The week-long celebration, scheduled for November 2007, bills itself as the largest South Asian Bhangra event in the world.

Mark Prasuhn , Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of VisionTV, said sponsorship of Bhangra Nation is a natural outgrowth of the network's efforts to serve the fast-growing South Asian Canadian community.

VisionTV is the only national basic cable broadcaster to offer an extensive selection of South Asian programming. The network's Saturday lineup features more than a dozen programs for Hindu, Sikh and Muslim viewers, in Punjabi, Urdu, Hindi and Arabic.

Said Mr. Prasuhn: “VisionTV is proud of its success in building a relationship with South Asian Canadian viewers. We welcome the opportunity to enter into partnership with Bhangra Nation, and look forward to strengthening our connection to this vibrant and growing community.”

Added David Garby , VisionTV's Director, Advertising Sales: “The annual Bhangra Nation event is not just multinational, but global in scope. This great diversity makes it an ideal association for VisionTV. We look forward to the event's continued and growing success.”

The Bhangra Nation plan of events includes a press launch, exhibitions and rallies, as well as the “Bhangra Nation XI” World Bhangra Competition, slated for Saturday, Nov. 17.
