Community leader Dale Godsoe named Chair of VisionTV Board of Directors

VisionTV is pleased to announce that Dale Godsoe has been appointed Chair of the multi-faith and multicultural network’s Board of Directors.

Ms. Godsoe, who has served on the VisionTV Board since 2004, succeeds renowned historian Dr. Irving Abella as Chair.

A dedicated community leader and a Member of the Order of Canada, Ms. Godsoe retired in 2006 from Dalhousie University in Halifax, N.S., after serving for 10 years as Vice President External.

She is currently a Director of the National Arts Centre, the Halifax Urban Design Task Force, Symphony Nova Scotia, the National Ballet School, the Landmark East Foundation, the Provincial Autism Centre (Nova Scotia) and the Pier 21 National Foundation.  She has also served as Past Chair of Imagine Canada and Vice Chair of The Women in Media Foundation.

Ms. Godsoe’s involvement in the private sector has included directorships with the Investment Dealers Association, Halterm Inc., Viacom Canada Inc., Hambros Bank and The Maritime Telegraph and Telephone Co. Ltd.

She chaired the Board of Governors of Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax from 1987 to 1994, and was a Board member of the YWCA of Canada for 10 years, serving as national President from 1994 to 1996.

Ms. Godsoe’s experience in the not-for-profit sector also includes serving as a Director of the Atlantic Film Festival and the Halifax Metro United Way. She received an honourary degree from Mount Saint Vincent in 1997.
