Mark Prasuhn to assume programming duties for S-VOX

Mark Prasuhn, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of S-VOX, will assume responsibilities for programming on an interim basis, the Toronto-based multimedia provider announced today.

This announcement follows the retirement of Chris Johnson as Senior Vice President, Programming for S-VOX.

Mr. Prasuhn joined S-VOX in January 2001, and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in November of the same year.

In this capacity, he oversees the organization's sales, business development, marketing and communications, and affiliate relations functions. Mr. Prasuhn has also led the successful launch of the S-VOX digital services One: the Body, Mind & Spirit channel and The Christian Channel.

Before joining S-VOX, Mr. Prasuhn was Chief Operating Officer for Minds Eye Pictures in Regina, Sask. In addition, he spent five years as General Manager of the Saskatchewan Film and Video Development Corporation (SaskFILM), and eight years with TVOntario.

Mr. Johnson's retirement marks the end of his six-year tenure as head of programming for the multi-faith channel VisionTV and its sister digital services.

Among his accomplishments, Mr. Johnson initiated a complete overhaul of VisionTV's prime time schedule. He launched new ventures in the field of factual programming, revitalized the network's weekday family block, and championed the acquisition of some of its most consistent ratings performers, including The Gaither Gospel Hour and McLeod's Daughters.

During Mr. Johnson's time at the helm, VisionTV also took part in major international co-productions such as The Lost Tomb of Jesus and Secret Files of the Inquisition.

Said Bill Roberts , President and CEO of S-VOX: “Chris Johnson's contribution to this organization has been immeasurable. He set exacting standards for programming, and built a team notable for its creativity and willingness to take risks – an essential quality for a small, independent broadcaster to possess. We look forward to building upon his legacy.”
