Vision TV/Recreating Eden salute grand opening of new FoodShare Toronto centre

VisionTV and Merit Motion Pictures, producers of the Gemini Award-winning spiritual gardening series Recreating Eden, offer congratulations to FoodShare Toronto on the grand opening of its new Food Education and Training Centre, the first of its kind in Canada.

FoodShare Toronto is one of three local garden initiatives sponsored in 2007 by the Vision TV/Recreating Eden Community Garden Project.

This project recognizes and encourages the work of gardeners who strive to make a difference in their communities. The participating gardens were selected after an open call to gardeners and gardening associations across Canada.

Said Merit Jensen Carr, Executive Producer of Recreating Eden: “We are thrilled to be part of the growth of FoodShare, an organization that has an immense impact on its community – from both an educational and social perspective.”

FoodShare Toronto has developed many pioneering food programs in fields ranging from student nutrition to urban agriculture.

The grand opening of the new Food Education and Training Centre takes place on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at 90 Croatia Street, Toronto. (Please visit www.foodshare.net for a map and directions.)

The event will feature a welcome from Mayor David Miller of Toronto and FoodShare Executive Director Debbie Field, followed by a lunch, tours and other family activities.
