S-VOX supports fund in memory of Aboriginal broadcaster Suzanne Rochon-Burnett

S-VOX , Canada's foremost provider of multimedia content on spirituality and personal growth, is proud to partner with the National Screen Institute-Canada (NSI) and the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) in the creation of a fund to honour Aboriginal media pioneer Suzanne Rochon-Burnett , President and CEO Bill Roberts said today.

Ms. Rochon-Burnett, who died on April 2, 2006, was a Canadian Métis business woman and a Member of the Order of Canada. She was the first Aboriginal Canadian person to own a private commercial radio station, and a prominent supporter of business, broadcasting and the arts in native communities.

S-VOX and APTN will each contribute $2,500 annually over three years to allow a female candidate from the Métis community to participate in one of NSI's film and television training programs.

Said Mr. Roberts: “Suzanne was an incredible Canadian – a woman of principle, grace, beauty and gutsy determination. S-VOX is privileged to have this opportunity to pay tribute to her memory.”

He added: “S-VOX is strongly committed to supporting excellence in Canadian Aboriginal broadcasting. It is an honour to work closely with distinguished partners such as NSI and APTN, who share the same goal.”
